Trump suggests he'd win California if 'Jesus Christ came down' to count ballots
WASHINGTON (TND) — Former President Donald Trump in an interview with popular television psychologist Phil McGraw Tuesday suggested he could win California’s electoral votes this November if Jesus Christ counted the ballots.
The comment came in a wide-ranging conversation which touched on several themes. Trump invoked the Christian savior to imply California may rig its elections.
“If Jesus Christ came down and was the vote counter, I would win California, ok?” Trump said. “In other words, if we had an honest vote counter, a really honest vote counter — I do great with Hispanics, great, I mean at a level no Republican has ever done. But if we had an honest vote counter, I would win California.”
Trump went on to accuse the state of sending multiple mail-in ballots to voters, skewing the state’s election results. The former president in that interview also attributed having survived the assassination attempt against him at a Pennsylvania rally to “some higher power.”
The former president has frequently turned to a higher power as the reason for having survived the shooting, during which a bullet grazed his ear. He reiterated a similar point during a conversation with X owner Elon Musk earlier this month.
"It's a miracle," Trump said. "If I had not turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now -- as much as I like you.”
