How to take care of tomato plants
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — You may have already planted your tomato plants, so now is a good time to know how to take care of them.
CBS2 met with Lily Gutierrez, an expert at Franz Witte. When it comes to the kind of light a tomato plant needs, Lily says, "They need full sun. What that means is six hours or more. The more sun, the better with tomatoes. They really like the heat."
Watering is, of course, a crucial part of taking care of tomato plants as well. Lily says, "They like a pretty decent amount of water, but they don't like to stay watered. What that means is watering them heavily but letting them dry out in between that. If they stay wet for too long, they can become more susceptible to insects and diseases."
Lily adds that to truly know how much water your plant needs, you will have to take into account where your tomato is located and the type of soil used.
