Fires burn over 23,000 acres in Boise National Forest
YELLOW PINE, Idaho (CBS2) — Two fires have collectively burned over 23,000 acres in the Boise National Forest.
The Buck Fire, about seven miles south of Yellow Pine, was started on Aug. 26 by lightning. It has grown to 19,139 acres, according to forest officials.
There was no significant growth in the fire over the weekend. Fire crews are moving northward continuing to evaluate structure protection needs along the Johnson Creek road. Multiple engines are positioned and patrolling the area.
The Buck fire is 20 percent contained.
The Grouse Fire, about six miles northeast of Pine, was started on Sept. 6. The cause is under investigation.
This fire has reached 3,980 acres and is 40 percent contained.
